The mission behind Singing Trees is to provide sustainable, local, low impact musical instruments for individuals and groups to enjoy and express their rhythmical nature and musical creativity on
A central part of the vision of the Singing Trees project is the development of our new woodland site in the Highlands. Our xylophones are currently made from local timber sourced from Strathpeffer and other local sawmills, however soon the xylophones will be made from our woodland site at Altnachardich, Inverness and we will be able to utilise the timber sources direct from the site.
OUR PROJECT AIMS:
- To provide a working example of a forest enterprise, converting low value timber into high value, marketable products for local schools and community gardens.
- To educate and demonstrate the wide variety of uses of local timber and also encourage the growth and use of the outdoors as an educational, fun and learning environment.
- To manage the our forest site in such a way as to produce renewable timber crops while encouraging biodiversity and woodland habitats.
